About Us

Bay Environmental Consulting LLC (BEC) is a certified woman-owned environmental consulting firm located in Suffolk County, New York.  The firm was established with the goal of offering clients high quality, science-based environmental consulting services.

BEC specializes in performing environmental studies involving the collection, analysis and interpretation of environmental data.  BEC has extensive experience with environmental permitting and compliance, ecological assessments, wetland delineations and assessments, environmental impact assessments, coastal resource management and resiliency, endangered species protection, and environmental sampling.

BEC owns a variety of equipment for environmental projects, including multiple boats of various sizes, environmental sampling equipment, and water quality monitoring meters.

Bay Environmental Consulting LLC is certified with New York State, New York City, Suffolk & Nassau County, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE).

Our team includes environmental and wetland scientists, geologists, ecologists, a GIS specialist, and a marine biologist.

The firm was established by Dr. Krista L. Thyberg in 2012. Krista is Certified Senior Ecologist.

Krista received her Ph.D. from Stony Brook University in Technology, Policy and Innovation with a concentration in Sustainability and Environmental Management.  She received her MS in Technological Systems Management with a concentration in Energy and Environmental Systems from Stony Brook University and her BS in Biology and Chemistry from The College of New Jersey.  She has over ten years of environmental consulting experience.

Andrew D. Thyberg, Principal

Andrew Thyberg joined the firm in 2014. Andrew is an environmental scientist and project manager.

Andrew received his MA in Marine Conservation and Policy from Stony Brook University and his BS in Environmental Science and Geology from SUNY Albany. He has an extensive background in the field of environmental science and management working for various clients including: U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Army Corps. Of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, as well as numerous state and local government agencies.
